Noosa Surfing Dogs 2015 Dates Announced
Noosa’s world famous surfing dogs will be back at First Point next March with the return of the VetshopAustralia Surfing Dogs Spectacular, and organisers expect the biggest field ever.Since its introduction in 2012, the VetshopAustralia Surfing Dogs has evolved from a workshop to an exhibition and now a full-blooded contest (woof!) with surf-stoked dogs and their masters flocking to Noosa from all over to learn from the surfing dog trainer extraordinaire, former world tandem surfing champion and Waikiki beach boy Chris De Aboitiz, before going paw to paw in Noosa’s famous point break waves.
Announcing the re-signing of VetshopAustralia.com.au, Australia’s largest on-line supplier of pet supplies, Festival director Phil Jarratt said the surfing dogs had brought an important new element to the Festival’s broad international appeal. “Families flock to the beach to watch the dogs in action, and so do the cameramen. This year the dogs were the major stars in a television segment that was shown 238 times across 19 countries. We love the fun and family appeal that the dogs bring to our event.”
This year the surfing dogs added Totally Wild to their impressive TV credits that already included Better Homes and Gardens and Sunrise.
In 2015 the VetShop Surfing Dogs will be held over March 7-8, the opening weekend of the festival, with workshops and exhibitions on Saturday and the main event on Sunday.

Awesome Pics of Cancer Fighter Surfing with Surfing Dog Ricochet
Caleb Acosta is 15-year-old who was diagnosed with stage IV brain cancer last summer.
With the help of the Make-A-Wish Foundation Caleb wgot to surf with Surf Dog Ricochet, a world-famous surfing therapy dog he had seen on TV.
According to Ricochet’s website,
she’s “the only dog in the world who surfs with kids with special
needs, people with disabilities, wounded warriors, military families and
veterans with PTSD as an assistive aid.”
The foundation flew the family out to California. Since the cancer has spread to his spine, Caleb was brought to the beach in a wheelchair and was helped onto the surfboard.

Caleb was a natural.
“My son is an amazing kid,” said Caleb’s mom Cathy. “So despite all his pain and all of his difficult situations that smile that you see, it’s always there. he always has it. … He’s stronger than we are, no doubt.”
Holding back tears, she told reporters, “Today’s a great day for our family.”
After the surfing, Caleb had a huge smile on his face. “I just felt almost normal, finally,” he said. “It felt really good to be free, just me, not worrying about anything.”

What’s next for the brave teen? “My goal right now is to eventually beat this cancer, and to tell everyone about it,” he said.
